Mavis said: I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead DYW North East, building on the fantastic work done by James to help young people prepare for the world of work. I look forward to working with the team to deliver on our objective of providing support for every young person in the North East, ensuring they have the best chance to reach their potential.”
James is CEO at Katoni Engineering. He will continue to be a member of the 11-strong DYW North East board.
James said: “I’ve loved working with the DYW North East team. I know the future is bright with Mavis incoming as the new Chair, and with a brilliant group of people operating at a high level.
“Thanks to the staff and the board who have made my time so enjoyable. Hopefully I’ve been able to make a small difference too, through Katoni and my role as Chair.”
Margo Milne, Director, DYW North East added: “James became Chair at a key point in DYW’s history. Schools and businesses were still adjusting to the aftermath of the pandemic and DYW regional groups had recently been expanded to support the delivery of the Young Person’s Guarantee.
“James was instrumental in helping us to successfully navigate this period of growth and opportunity. As a former Director of DYW North East, his knowledge and experience was invaluable, as was his commitment and vision.
“I would like to thank James for all he has done over the past three years. His continued involvement will support a smooth transition for Mavis, who he has already been working alongside. I am pleased and excited to welcome Mavis into the role of Chair, as we continue to strengthen our support for our region’s young people.”
